Job Description
Are you an inspired Waste, Circularity and CSRD Specialist with a passion for sustainability and innovation? Do you want to contribute to a circular future by using raw materials smarter and more efficiently? At geoFluxus you will have the opportunity to make an impact and work on pioneering solutions within waste management and environmental legislation.
In this role you will combine your expertise in waste management and environmental legislation with your knowledge of CSRD reporting, including ESRS 5. You will lead research and development projects that help companies reduce their environmental impact. Together with a multidisciplinary team, you will work on solutions that contribute to a sustainable future.
Because of the diversity of challenges you will encounter, this role requires quick problem solving, flexibility and a hands-on approach. A typical day includes a short team stand-up, communication with stakeholders, independent research, collaboration with other teams, coming up with ideas and keeping up with relevant industry trends.
- Research and Development: Lead research projects on new technologies and methodologies in waste management and sustainability, and apply your expertise to develop innovative, scalable solutions.
- Waste Expertise: Apply your knowledge of EWC (EURAL) codes, waste classification systems and waste stream optimization best practices to develop customer-focused solutions.
- Technology Innovation: Work with a team of data scientists and developers to create cutting-edge solutions that streamline CSRD reporting processes, automate data analysis and develop innovative applications.
- Customer Contact: Work with customers to understand their specific needs, challenges and goals related to CSRD reporting, waste legislation and environmental management. In addition, work with the sales and business development teams to identify opportunities for new product development and strategic partnerships.
- Thought Leadership: Stay abreast of trends, best practices and regulations within industrial ecology, sustainability, waste legislation and CSRD reporting, and share this knowledge with clients and colleagues.
- Experience or knowledge in industrial processes, material and waste stream management, waste-specific legislation and broader environmental sciences.
- Able to conduct independent research using a variety of methods: interviews, desk research, data analysis, policy analysis, etc.
- Technical expertise in data analysis and environmental methodologies (e.g., MFA, LCA), with a focus on assessing the environmental impacts of waste management.
- In-depth understanding of waste-specific processing methods and compliance with CSRD reporting frameworks, including ESRS 5.
- Be familiar with EWC codes and their application in waste classification and reporting.
- Curiosity and interest in circular economy and innovative sustainability practices.
- Ability to read and understand legal documents in Dutch and English.
- Practical experience in the waste management industry, with expertise in environmental impact assessments.
- Proven experience in research and development leadership, preferably in a technical startup environment.
- Demonstrated ability to drive innovation, manage complex projects and deliver results in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment.
- Advanced knowledge of CSRD reporting frameworks such as GRI, CDP and SASB.
- A background in industrial ecology is a plus.

Language and office
Excellent command of both Dutch and English is required for effective communication within our international team. Our team combines working from home and from our office in Rotterdam. On Mondays and Tuesdays we work remotely, and from Wednesday to Friday at our office next to central station in Rotterdam.
